The Montreal International Dragon Boat Challenge is set to make history in 2026!

With a record-breaking 270 registered teams, registrations are now officially closed for what will be the largest dragon boat event ever held by Mission Dragon Boat and in the history of dragon boat racing in Montreal.

Following the tremendous success of hosting the 2025 Pan American Club Crew Championship, Mission Dragon Boat is proud to partner with Dragon Boat Canada (DBC) and the United States Dragon Boat Federation (USDBF) to host the 2026 CAN AM Club Crew Championships (CACCC), held as part of the Montreal International Dragon Boat Challenge at the Olympic Basin, Parc Jean-Drapeau, Montreal, Canada.

The MIDBC will also return on July 18–19, 2026, featuring racing for the Community Division.

This event is known for its fun, welcoming, and high-energy atmosphere — a true celebration of teamwork and paddling spirit! Crews of all levels come together for two unforgettable days of racing, camaraderie, and excitement at the iconic Olympic Basin in Montreal.

The format is currently being finalized, but we are working toward offering 200m, 500m, and 2000m races.

Standard Boats only, for Mixed, Women’s, and Open categories.

🏅 Medals are awarded for every sprint final (500m and 200m, no medals for 2000m), and video reviews.

🌍 Recreational crews from around the world are welcome to join this unique event. It’s Montreal in July — what a trip that could be for your dragon boat crew!

Whether you’re chasing the podium or just out to enjoy the experience, the Montreal Challenge has become a can’t-miss classic in the dragon boat community — blending competition, celebration, and pure paddling passion.


CANAM club Crew Championship

CAN AM Club Crew Championships

The CAN AM Club Crew Championships is open to Sport Division crews from across North America and beyond. Racing will include three distances across all classes and categories, in both Standard and Small boats: 200m, 500m, 2000m.

Q: What crews can participate at the CAN AM Championships?

Any club crew made up of members of their National Dragon Boat Federation can race at the CACCC.
🌍All crews from around the world are welcome, as long as they are members of their respective national federations.

1. Community Division: Montreal International Dragon Boat Challenge

July 18–19

Medals

Montreal International Dragon Boat Challenge (Community Division)

Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded to the top three teams in every 500 m and 200 m final in each of the following categories:

  • Mixed
  • Women’s
  • Open

Medal ceremonies will take place immediately following each final.

No medals will be awarded for the 2,000 m races.


CAN AM Club Crew Championships (Sport Division)

Medals for the CAN AM Club Crew Championships are awarded based on the overall points standings. Results from the 200 m, 500 m, and 2,000 m races are combined to determine the overall champions in each category.

Gold, silver, and bronze medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each championship category based on the final cumulative standings.

Medal ceremonies will take place at the end of the day on Saturday and late Monday morning, according to the championship schedule for each category.

Note: Unlike the Community Division, CAN AM medals are not awarded after each race. They are presented based on the final overall standings after all three race distances have been completed.

Direction – Parking – Metro

The event takes place at Parc Jean Drapeau on the Olympic Basin in Montreal.

Important points to know: The basin is located on Île Notre-Dame in Parc Jean Drapeau. The parking lot directly adjacent to the basin is P2.

Parking P2:

Parking fees are the entire responsibility of the Parc Jean Drapeau Society. We would like to point out that Mission Dragon Boat does not receive any rebate on the revenues generated by the parking fees. Accessible by public transport : metro Jean-Drapeau station on the yellow line. There is no shuttle service between the Jean-Drapeau subway station and the competition site (1.1km distance). See google map.

MONTREAL CHINESE CULTURE AND ART FOUNDATION

In partnership with the Montreal Chinese Culture and Art Foundation (MCCAF), the Montreal dragon-boat Challenge highlights the cultural contribution brought to dragon-boat by the Chinese culture. Over two days of competition, participants and spectators will be fully immersed in Chinese culture with many performances by artists from China and Montreal.
